What is the Edo Cultural Center?
The Edo Cultural Center, a leading Japanese language school has been attended by as many as 7300 students from 50 countries around the world since it's establishment in 1984. In recent years, the pace at which the global community has been advancing has been quite amazing and communication between people from all parts of the globe will continue to be very important in the coming years as well. Accordingly, the Edo Cultural Center will continue to disperse its message and spread information about Japan via the Japanese language.

Origin of the name "Edo Cultural Center"
Japan's current social infrastructure started to take shape during the Edo Era, when a culture known as Genroku, a magnificent and dazzling culture in Japan's history, was at its zenith. Today, Japanese people are often described as having the fundamental characteristics of being ambiguous, noncommittal, and vague, while at the same time being very diligent, and these traits as well as Japanese social traditions and systems began to take root during the Edo Era. We therefore named the school "The Edo Cultural Center" with the hope that many would acquire a deeper understanding of Japanese people, who are generally regarded as being mysterious and often incomprehensible in the eyes of non-Japanese.
